Residential Garbage and Recycling Collection
Biron contracts its garbage collection service to Waste Management of Wisconsin. Waste Management furnishes all Biron residential properties rolling 96-gallon trash and recycling carts. Carts are owned by Waste Management and provided at no cost to Biron residents.
The rolling carts must be used for weekly trash and recycling collection. Any trash or recycling materials placed in containers other than these rolling carts will not be collected.
Rolling trash and recycling carts should be stored in garages and if garage space is not available or practicable, then the carts must be stored in the side yard or back yard. Carts are not allowed to be stored in front yards.

Bulk/large item pick-up will be done the last week of April and October. To have bulk items collected at the curbside, you must pay and arrange for pick-up of the item in advance. Bulk Item Pickup form
Compost Tags
Wisconsin Rapids compost site tags are for sale at the Biron Municipal Center. Cost is $65.00 for non-residents of the City of Wisconsin Rapids. If the tag is lost, a new one will have to be purchased; no replacements. The East Side site is located at the intersection of HWY 54 and CTY W. The west side site is located on 17th Avenue North just north of Engel Road. Hours are Monday thru Friday 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM; closed Saturday and Sunday. Materials accepted: leaves, grass clippings, garden waste, brush, tree limbs and stumps.
Note: The West side site will be open Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and closed Saturday and Sunday. It is recommended to call 715-421-8218 in advance prior to using the West side site during the winter.
No dumping of any kind is allowed at the Biron Garage site located on Williams Street.
Brush Pickup (click here for policy)
Brush pickup is performed during the last week of each month from April through October. In the case of large storm events, these schedules may be extended. Scheduled weeks are posted on Biron's website. The last week of the month is determined by the week in which the final day of the month falls.
Biron asks that brush be piled in one direction and placed near, but not on, the road. Please limit brush to a maximum of twelve (12) feet in length. Please keep brush piles away from mailboxes, lawn ornaments, street lights, signs, power poles or any other object that would prohibit pickup.
Biron's brush chipper is limited to brush 6” in diameter. If you currently have tree limbs, logs, or brush that exceeds 6” in diameter, you will need to dispose of those items yourself. Passes for the City of Wisconsin Rapids compost sites are sold at the Municipal Center. The $65.00 pass fee is established by Wisconsin Rapids and allows disposal of lawn waste and brush of any size, as well as access to recycled black dirt/compost.
Biron asks that if removing an entire tree, residents consider the services of a professional tree service, and as part of that service – having the entire tree removed. If removing a smaller tree on your own, please check with the Village of Biron staff to determine Biron's ability to assist in removing brush and limbs. It is likely that the larger portion of the tree, such as the trunk and large limbs, will have to be disposed of by yourself.
Grass and Leaves Pickup
Spring grass and leaf pickups are the second week in April through the second week in May. Fall grass and leaf pickups are the second week in October through the second week in November. Grass clippings and leaves are to be placed in untied bags. The Village encourages the use of paper bags as they are recyclable. Paper bag use will be mandatory in 2024. Grass and leaves must be kept separate from brush piles.
Management of lead acid batteries, major appliances, used oil, used tires, yard waste, and electronics
Occupants of single-family and 2 to 4 unit residences, multiple-family dwellings and nonresidential facilities and properties shall manage lead acid batteries, major appliances, used oil, used tires, yard waste, and electronics as follows:
Village residents are encouraged to trade their old lead acid batteries with the retailer upon purchase of a new battery.Lead acid batteries are the responsibility of residents/property owners. Until such items can be disposed of, they must remain stored so as not to be a nuisance to the public.

Used oil may be deposited during business hours at a location designated by the Village.Call 715-323-2001 for assistance.
Metal Products or Automotive Parts: Any parts from cars, trucks, bicycles, snowmobiles, or machinery including doors, frames, hoods, wheels, fenders, motors, transmissions, axles, etc., and all metal products used in construction such as iron, steel, aluminum, cast iron, etc., to include metal roofing, or siding used in building construction shall be the responsibility of residents/property owners until such items can be disposed of. They must remain stored so as not to be a nuisance to the public.
Yard waste and leaves shall be placed in open bags at the curb line for collection by the Village on designated spring and fall dates. Brush, tree limbs and Christmas trees shall be placed at the curb line for collection by the Village on designated dates.Brush and tree limbs shall be laid in the same direction and not exceed 8 feet in length.
